Description

De Haviland Canada DHC-8 DASH 8

The Dash 8 prototype first flew on June 20 1983 from the de Havilland plant at Downsview, north of Toronto, Canada. Since then several larger versions have been put into production. Many small airlines operate Dash 8’s and they can be seen all over the world. Currently the Royal Canadian Air Force operate two DHC-8M-100 called CC-142 serving with 412 Squadron and four CT-142 aircraft acting as navigational trainers. The navigational trainers are easily recognised by the large nose housing the radar. Three standard DHC-8-100’s serve with the Kenyan Air Force for transport duties and two aircraft are operated by the US Air Force by the 475th WEG at Tyndall AFB. These are designated E-9A and are used for range support and have a phased radar array in a large fuselage fairing plus telemetry and communications relay equipment.
