Description

From 1943 onwards, the P-38J was to become the first really effective Lightning. Top speed 666 km/h. Extensive modifications were already incorporated in the subsequent P-38L. This version also had the best performance of all the P-38s; 3923 were built. In Europe it was used reinforced for ground attack roles and received the nickname "Fork-Tailed Devil".
