HMMWV M1025 ASK with LRAS3 &: HMMWV M1025 ASK PsyOp Team
The HMMWV first entered U.S. service in 1985, and it has become the primary utility vehicle of all branches of the military. The Humvee continues to perform vital tasks in combat zones like Iraq and Afghanistan, and the contents of Dragon':s latest 1/72 scale plastic kit would fit either of these theaters. The kit offers two complete Humvee M1025 Armament Carriers fitted with an ASK (Armor Survivability Kit). The ASK consists of armored doors, bullet-resistant glass, armored seatbacks and reinforced floor panels, items that are essential when facing the threat of roadside IEDs.
This kit set from Dragon offers some interesting variety, with each vehicle fitted with different equipment. One receives a loudspeaker system, a piece of equipment often used by ":Psyops": (psychological operations) units to broadcast announcements, while the other HMMWV mounts an LRAS3. The Long Range Advanced Scout Surveillance System (LRAS3) used in scout platoons has an infrared camera, laser rangefinder and daylight TV camera that can be used for spotting targets up to 15km away. In this exciting ":twin-pack":, the loudspeakers and LRAS3 are both completely new toolings, converting these Humvees into unique vehicles. The vehicles themselves are accurately designed and fit together with a minimum of fuss, guaranteeing a pleasurable build for modelers. Of course, these new M1025s could be combined with earlier Humvee releases from Dragon to create a fascinating Iraqi or Afghan diorama.
